چکیده

Nongalenic arteriovenous fistula (NGAVF)also known as intracranial pial arteriovenous fistula (AVF), cerebral AVF, or brain AVF is a rare vascular malformation. There are few retrospective case series describing their epidemiological, clinical and radiographic characteristics as well as technical elements of treatment. Combined transarterial and transvenous embolization of a 4 month old female with a multi-hole pial AVF is described. The patient underwent treatment by transarterial and transvenous embolisation in a staged fashion and without neurological complication.

Intracerebral atypical calcification in nongalenic pial arteriovenous fistula: a case report

Nongalenic intradural arteriovenous fistulas, although uncommon, are clinically important. Choosing the appropriate therapeutic approach has been a controversial issue within the last decade.A 15-year-old male was presented with a calcified nongalenic arteriovenous fistula in the left parietal region, supplied by the left middle cerebral artery, and draining into the left lateral sinus. The pat...

Coronary Stent Embolisation to an Iatrogenic Arteriovenous Fistula: An Unexpected Complication

INTRODUCTION Systemic embolisation of stents represents a rare complication of coronary interventions. REPORT The case of a patient with peripheral embolisation of a coronary stent while undergoing a coronary procedure for an ischaemic event is reported. The stent lodged at a previously created iatrogenic fistula joining the profunda femoral artery and the common femoral vein. An endovascular...

Transcatheter Amplatzer vascular plug-embolization of a giant postnephrectomy arteriovenous fistula combined with an aneurysm of the renal pedicle by through-and-through, arteriovenous access

Although endovascular transcatheter embolization of arteriovenous fistulas is minimally invasive, the torrential flow prevailing within a fistula implies the risk of migration of the deployed embolization devices into the downstream venous and pulmonary circulation. We present the endovascular treatment of a giant postnephrectomy arteriovenous fistula between the right renal pedicle and the res...

Transvenous Coil Embolization for Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas of the Ophthalmic Sheath: Report of Two Cases and Review of the Literature

We present two patients with a dural arteriovenous fistula (dAVF) of the ophthalmic sheath who developed progressive exophthalmos, conjunctival chemosis, and visual loss. These symptoms mimic those of cavernous sinus dAVFs. Dural AVFs of the ophthalmic sheath are extremely rare and their clinical management is controversial. We successfully treated these two patients by transvenous coil emboliz...

Endovascular Treatment of Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas of the Transverse and Sigmoid Sinuses Using Transarterial Balloon-Assisted Embolization Combined with Transvenous Balloon Protection of the Venous Sinus.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Combined transarterial balloon-assisted endovascular embolization with double-lumen balloon microcatheters and concomitant transvenous balloon protection was described as a promising treatment technique for dural arteriovenous fistulae of the transverse and sigmoid sinus. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the technical efficacy and safety of this combined treatmen...
